Boaz Barak’s blog post entitled Occupy ACM: We are the 99% may be of interest to people here. The Association for Computing Machinery is a major publisher in CS (including quite a bit of overlap with mathematics), and they have truly terrible copyright policies. I would be very happy if the community could convince them to become more like the AMS.
The ACM is allegedly doing something - sounds a bit self-serving and limited to me: Positioning ACM for an open access future.
Sorry but this doesn’t look like a noticeable step forward… An inverted moving wall, WTF? Good articles should become more useful with time, not less useful, even in computer science.
There is a petition now: http://teardownthispaywall.appspot.com/ It will be interesting to see its progress.
